SmarThumb USB Drive

The Smart Thumb USB Drive is sold by a local Malaysian company (Intranet) and the great thing about this thumb drive is that it comes with a variety of blethering good apps pre-installed. No more pesky installation procedures. Just plugin and run the software. It’s easy ! There’s no messy cap to deal with too. (see below)

All the SmarThumb apps are arranged in tabbed pages. Just like tabbed pages on a Firefox internet browser. Cool! See below

It has some really good apps but I will talk about the ones I like. There’s To Do List, Auto Backup, My Directory, File Organizer, World Map and Time Zone, My Address Book, Photo Album, etc.

Update 29 Sept : I’ ve been told by Intranet that this baby’s actual killer apps are My Mail/My Address Book and My Zip.

My Mail / My Address Book - is a powerful email client that works just like MS Outlook and Outlook Express.So what happens when you are on your home PC and want to send a message to a client? If his address is on your office PC, you can’t! With My Mail, you actually carry all your addresses with you within SmarThumb, Just plug into any PC and all your addresses are at your fingertips!

What this really means is that with SmarThumb My Mail, you can be anywhere in the world and when you plug SmarThumb into any online Windows PC, you will be able to access your email and send or forward mails to your contacts because their addresses are also there inside SmarThumb.

My Zip - files are compressed as “.cab” which is a Windows compression format–just click the file and Windows would decompress it. This is unlike other compression software, where the same software is required to decompress a file. This feature is very useful if you want to send compressed files to others who do not have any compression software.

Stick It Notes - This is really handy to leave on your task tray when you jot down some quick stuff. Its lighter than the big version of MS OneNote which I use quite often.

Stick It Notes is an indispensable tool for those who need to organise their ad hoc information and reminder into small pieces of electronic yellow notes. You can set alarm on every yellow notes for reminder of the upcoming events. In addition to that, you can personalise each yellow note with different font and color for easy identification

World Map and Time Zone - When I need to wake someone up in the Netherlands, I’ll use this to check out the time before giving them a call. Cool stuff. You can find all the countries maps and general statistics of each country inside this small SmarThumb.
