ImCoSys Linux Smartphone

by colbert low on March 26th, 2006

ImCoSys of Switzerland is set to release a 298 Euros (about $355 USD or RM 1350) smartphone that runs on Linux on June 2006 (I’m saving money now !) and its cheaper than my Eten M600.

It will be able to read Microsoft office documents, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and even Adobe PDF files. Its got a cool GPS receiver (with included GPS software on SD card), Bluetooth connectivity, WLAN (802.11b), and a 240 x 320 pixel 262k touchscreen. The processor comes from Texas Instruments, an OMAP-730 running at 200MHz. The 64 MB of on-board memory may not be enough, so you can always expand it via the SD expansion slot (not mini-SD). Too bad its got no camera but who cares when you can have a 5 megapixel one separately.
