Sony Turns 60. Thanks for the Gadgets !
![]()
Hurray to Sony. They are now 60 ! Thanks for making our lives simpler and better. My dad had 2 Sony TVs and one lasted 30 years. And now I’m carrying the tradition as I have my own Sony TV too. Can’t wait to get my 42″ LCD TV this year.

The golden years. (You’re not going to retire any time soon, are you? No — good.) How far you’ve come since May 7th 1946, when Masaru Ibuka, post-war engineering entrepreneur and gadget forefather established Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Totsuko) with Akio Morita, founding the company we now know and cherish (um, most of the time) as Sony.
Check out Son’y AKIO MORITA BIOGRAPHY here :
Akio Morita was born on January 26, 1921, in the city of Nagoya, to a family of sake brewers. The Morita family has been brewing sake for nearly 400 years in the city of Tokoname, near Nagoya. Under the strict eyes of his father, Kyuzaemon, Akio was groomed to become the heir to the family business. As a student, Akio often sat in on company meetings with his father and he would help with the family business even on school holidays.
The Morita family had in those days already embraced the latest in Western culture, like the automobile and the electric phonograph. Whenever he was relieved from his household duties, the young Akio would become engrossed in taking apart the phonograph and putting it back together.

can’t deny sony is good. but they better get their act together soon. expected more from their mp3 players. would have been nice if they worked out their differences with toshiba and come out with one standard hd-dvd. anyway, i’m sure they’d be around for a while
