Swann’s Micro DVR

by colbert low on June 28th, 2006

This is one cute mini DVR.

With the need for personal security at an unprecedented high, Swann Communications, global leader in security monitoring solutions, has launched the Micro DVR, a complete portable covert video recording and monitoring system for the consumer.

The Micro DVR is an all-in-one digital video recording system that is loaded with features which make it an ideal solution for covert surveillance. The Micro DVR features a built-in color camera, 128MB of memory and a LCD screen for viewing and playback. Recording can be programmed into the DVR through easy to use on-screen menus or triggered either through video motion detection or sound detection options. Memory expansion and data backup is made easy through the addition of a USB memory stick, which can capture an additional 20 hours of data. The unit is powered by a Li-Ion rechargeable battery which can last up to 24 hours; for long-term operation, the Micro DVR can run off the AC adaptor. Recordings are easily exported to the users PC in the form of AVI and JPEG files via the software which is included with the Micro DVR. The entire device is concealed in a robust housing, making the Micro DVR covert and durable.

Swann’s Micro DVR™ retails for $899 and is available for purchase from Swann.

Wow, I hope you got that text off of a press release from Swann. I can’t find one announcing this product on thier web site or on PR Newswire or Businesswire.

I can’t imagine you wrote that, it smells like press release.

Why isn’t there ANY substantive analysis?

The analysis was “This is one cute mini DVR.”

No comments about the perv factor with this device’s ability to be “an ideal solution for covert surveillance.”

No comments on features, no comments on price, no comments on how the government and private investigators will use this…… just press hyperbole.

If you want to promote Swann Communications, sell them an ad. This article was a disappointment, if I just wanted the news about it I would go to Digg.

Carney. It is a press release. I’ve added a new category called Press that highlights press releases. It won’t have much comments from me because it would dilute the flavour of this press releases. Don’t worry. I’ll continue write other blog posts that adds in my 2 cents..instead of just copying press releases.

Why do you guys bother with a $900 dvr when you can buy one half its size for half the money? Look it up at the webside above.
