Linksys WRT350N

by Joe on August 26th, 2006

It’s not at all uncommon to find a device that functions as a WAP and a router simultaneously. But this little fella does more than that…

The WRT350N uses the draft specs for 802.11(n) and MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) to effortlessly serve up some sweet home networking. This new wireless specification allows data transfer speeds at up to 12 times that of our beloved 802.11(g). It is also backwards compatible with both B and G standards, so you won’t have to upgrade everything at once.

But what else can it do Joe? Well, it has ports for 4 wired connections, and what makes it different is a USB port that will allow you to connect a USB storage device for access to all on your network.

Also: DHCP, firewall, VPN pass-through, Web-browser interface, and a “Good Neighbour” mode so it plays well with others.

Linksys WRT350N I’m still a bit sceptical of Pre-(N) hardware, but this certainly has merit. Pricing and availability not yet available. Read the full specs here.
