Sony DVD Protection, backfires?

Certainly Sony will expect to lose its market in no time if they try to mess with some DRM madness again (or rootkit madness). Try to ask anyone that can put up with this nonsense when you purchase a Sony DVD Player, and it cannot even playback its own Disc. On top of that, customer service provides no solution on this issue!
Way back in 2005, Sony had faced a lawsuit against its copywrite protection DRM system, and shame on Sony since they did not have the decency to restore customer’s confidence. Even worst, Thomas Hesse, Sony BMG’s president of global digital business, said “Most people don’t even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?”
Back to the story of Micky B, a customer who had purchased a DVP-CX995V DVD player from Sony a few months back and got himself a few copies of a disc to play. He found out that player had problems with two movies (namely “Stranger than Fiction” and “The Holiday” - both Sony Pictures films). Mickey had clearly stated that the DVDs had no defects. Despite being disgruntled, he called up customer service who admitted the problem is due to the copy protection - and rejected any change to the protection. The Customer Service rep made a blunder by asking Mick to update a firmware which had not been released yet. This definitely puts Sony in a “bad” light for now.
