Samsung unveils latest Ultra Edition II Series and the Ultra Music F300
What a coincidence. It seems that Samsung has unveiled their latest Ultra Edition II Series and the Ultra Music F300 mobile phones and I was in the middle of it. The middle of Marriot Hotel I mean over in KL on Tuesday and it was pretty packed. The models paraded all the phones on show and there was even 2 DJs from MTVasia. Now that is really cool…
“The Samsung Ultra Edition II and Ultra Music embodies everything consumers desire in a mobile phone – cutting edge multimedia technology, stylish design and top-class performance. We expect these to be really popular among fashion conscious consumers, business users and multimedia enthusiasts,” said Mr. Min Yong Ho, CEO and Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd.
The Ultra Edition II Ultra series represents three of the world’s slimmest mob respective form factors. Slimmer and boasting greater functionality than the first edition, the Ultra Edition II portfolio consists of three stylish and functional models; a stylish slider – the Ultra Edition 10.9 (SGH-U600), a metallic clamshell - the Ultra Edition 9.6 (SGH-U300); and a candy bar handset - the Ultra Edition 5.9 (SGH-U100). Ultra Music F300 is an iconic bar mobile phone with dual LCD screens. A union of slim style and function, it exemplifies the convergence of basic devices, such as PMP, MP3 and radio, with mobile phones.
The Ultra Edition 10.9 and Ultra Music F300 are already available in Malaysia and come at a recomended retail price of RM 1,399 and RM 1,499 respectively while both the Ultra Edition 9.6 and 5.9 will be available at the end of May at a recomended retail price of RM1,199 and RM999 respectively,
Each of the Ultra Edition II phones offers features like a 3.2 megapixel camera, high speed web connectivity, as well as extensive multimedia and audio capabilities. They also incorporate innovative consumer driven design elements to enhance the user experience, including jewel inspired casing that delivers the most stunning aesthetics and external multimedia navigation keys for increased ease of use.

This looks like an extremely slim phone. The form factor certainly suggests that it is very, very sleek. The question of course is, does it have the element of being perceived as being ‘cool’ enough to sell well? I think the new Apple iPhone due out next month may sweep all in front of it. The second half of this year should be very interesting, as the established phone manufacturers fight back. Fasten seat belts everyone!

well, I think the new Samsungs rock. They are so slim. I really like the SGH-U300. Its only 9.6mm thick…..While the slimmest phone is SGH-U100 at 5.9mm, which makes it the slimmest 3.2 megapixel phone around, I’d like to buy a flip phone. If you like big screens, the SGH-U600 comes at 10.9 mm thick and a 2.22 inch display with 262,144 Colour Screen at 320×240 resolution.
