Custom Lightsabers put to test

by colbert low on August 3rd, 2007

The guys at PopularMechanics have reviewed a cool set of Custom Lightsabers that costs USD 500. They are Class II lasers encased in polycarbonate rods and sound authentic when 2 pieces clash. Check out this interesting review here. Oh, looks like the saga leaves a blazing trail even after the movie trilogy has ended.

The mechanics are simple: The handle is essentially an incredibly powerful, AAA-powered LED flashlight (a Class II laser, according to Iannoccone) shining through a semi-translucent rod that’s secured with a thumbscrew. Iannaccone’s shop, Advanced Light Weaponry, will accommodate practically any request, including anachronistic design choices for the sword-and-sorcery fantasy geeks out there.
